REGIONAL CHAMPIONS & NATIONAL FINALISTS – LEGO LEAGUE
MT ST PATRICK PS – 1st PLACE – BRISBANE REGIONAL CHAMPION
NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS – 2ND PLACE RESEARCH PROJECT
LEGO LEAGUE – ROBOTICS CHALLENGE
Our First Lego League Robotics team, ‘The Gritty Bovine Nitpickers’ competed at the Northern National finals event in Brisbane on November 23rd. They were one of 45 other teams competing on the day. They were judged on their Core Values, their Robot Design and Coding strategy, their Innovative Project, Research Presentation and on how well their robot performed on the day.
It was an action packed day with teams travelling from far and wide having won advancement to take part. We shared our ‘pit area’ with three teams from a secondary STEM Academy based at Merrimac. The competition was intense, but a lot of fun and the team represented our school with heart and pride.
‘The Gritty Bovine Nitpickers’ scored well in all judging sections – a testament to their commitment and hard work. Particularly impressive was the fact that they scored 35/36 for their Innovative Project, Research and Presentation. The judges’ written feedback included this line:
‘Amazing, confident, well prepared and well delivered.’
At the closing ceremony and trophy presentation, the team was delighted to hear that they had won second place for their Research Presentation! An outstanding achievement! Congratulations team!
Both Lego League teams, the ‘Infinity Bricks’ and ‘The Gritty Bovine Nitpickers’, will present their 5 minute presentations at the forthcoming Presentation Night, December 10th.
Many thanks to one and all for your support of the two teams this year!
